Ingredients And Health Benefits

The Sportland Tea Co. makes custom blends of of all natural and organic green tea and herbs. And yes, as many have asked, it IS gluten free. Below you’ll find information regarding our blend and the associated health benefits of each ingredient.

Organic Matcha Green Tea

With a higher caffeine content than most regular green teas, matcha green tea powder has nearly 300% more antioxidants than traditional green tea. By weight, matcha powder has more antioxidants than blueberries, spinach, and pomegranates. When you ingest the whole powdered leaf, the body is able to absorb a much higher potency of catechins, and polyphenols. But what does that mean? It means that your body is able to more efficiently use it’s energy resources when called upon in athletic performance. Catechins help increase fat loss via thermogenesis, or in basic terms, they help burn fat for energy instead of muscle.

Mint

Aside from being a great flavor-enhacement in our tea, mint is a noted stomach soother.

Orange Peel and Orange Oil

Used mainly for flavor, we’re not going to deny the extra bit of vitamin C and A we get by adding this to the blend. Orange oil is also antimicrobial, and stimulates circulation.

Ginseng

Ginseng has been used for centuries as an energy enhancer. It stimulates the immune system, it’s a cognitive enhancement supplement (thinking faster is a great athletic boost), and it also helps reduce stress. We use Asian Ginseng for it’s unique stamina- and metabolism-boosting effects.

Ginger

Beyond a great flavor enhancer, ginger has proven to be a fantastic aid in stomach relief. Additionally, it’s a key component in our tea for it’s ability to reduce inflammation throughout the body.

Lemongrass

Great flavor, and great for your liver. Its calming taste and aroma are a great stress reliever and helps reduce headaches and body-aches.

Lemon Balm

Increases alertness, mood, and helps fight indigestion from athletic stress. Additionally, it acts as a cognitive enhancer.

Cayenne

At Sportland, we love spicy everything, but cayenne is actually an important ingredient in our tea for a big reason: it increases the carbohydrate oxidation in the body. When an athlete is drawing on their energy resources, cayenne helps the fat in their system be used before pulling from other much needed reserves.

Hibiscus

Primarily used for color and tartness in our berry flavored blends, hibiscus is also added for it’s specific benefit of reducing respiratory inflammation. It’s also great for maintaining healthy blood pressure levels.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is kind of a wonder spice: it regulates blood sugar, reduces cholesterol, and it’s a natural pain reliever. To be honest, though, we add it in to our blends because it tastes good.

Turmeric

A powerful anti-inflammatory. Turmeric also increases the antioxidant capacity of the body, and boosts the body’s neurotropic factor (increases brain function). It also helps prevent heart disease, fights cancer and brain-related diseases, and is a powerful anti-depressant.

Rose Hips

Great source of Vitamin C, prevents stomach irritation, and increases blood flow. Fights joint inflammation. Regulates blood sugar levels. Rose hips are pretty amazing.

Periwinkle

Increases mental productivity. It's also fun to say.

Devil’s Claw

A natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory root from Africa. It's been used for centuries to help treat arthritis.

GABA oolong tea

This is the key to the recovery blend. By forcing nitrogen into the fresh picked tea leaves, it boosts the benefits of tea. All teas have similar health benefits, primarily because of their antioxidants, catechins, flavanoids, and polyphenols, which are more concentrated in some teas than in others. In addition, there are other valuable qualities and nutritional content in tea, especially if it is organically grown. GABA oolong tea has all of these qualities, but it is also one of the richest food sources available for natural GABA (Gamma-aminobutyric acid) – an important amino acid that functions as a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system.

Cloves

Due to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, clove oil can reduce inflammation and alleviate joint pain, muscle aches and arthritis pain. Both cloves and clove oil have been found to be very effective for the respiratory system due to their expectorant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Cardamom

Packed with minerals like potassium, calcium and magnesium, cardamom is good for your heart by helping to regulate heart rate. It also helps lower blood pressure!

Vanilla Powder

Vanilla is a powerful antioxidant, and helps to fight inflammation in respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems.

Yerba Maté

Provides energy without causing the usual coffee jitters. It helps to keep you alert and provides your body with 24 vitamins and minerals and 15 amino acids. Also helps digestion, increases cardiovascular oxygenation during athletic activity, and helps lower blood pressure.

MCT Oil

MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) are saturated fats that are easier to digest than the more common LCTs (long-chain triglycerides). They raise your metabolism and are burned as fuel instead of being stored as fat. If you have heard of adding coconut oil to your coffee for extra energy and fat-burning effects, MCT is the reason that works.
